Jay Hickenlooper
IML Security Supply, founded in 1966 by Jay Hickenlooper as Intermountain Lock & Supply, began with Jay working in a lock shop basement managing his father’s locksmithing inventory. In 1970, the company acquired its first building in Salt Lake City in the location still occupied today as IML headquarters.
Over the next 5 decades, IML transformed to a full-line security hardware distributor and expanded to ten locations in eight states. IML has fast become a leading wholesale distributor in the industry while staying true to Jay’s vision of trust, relationship and service.

Bob Steinmann
Bob is celebrating 50 years with IML, including twenty-five years as our President. Bob started in the warehouse pulling orders in 1975, progressed to inside sales and soon was visiting customers in Colorado. Bob later raised his hand to Jay for the opportunity to manage the company as our General Manager. Bob played a pivotal role in our acquisition and expansion to Denver in 1992. In the following decades, Bob’s visionary leadership as our President prompted growth in Las Vegas, the acquisition of Worldwide Lock Supply in Los Angeles as well as our openings in Phoenix, Seattle, San Antonio, Kansas City, Dallas and Sacramento. Bob continues his focus on the IML team by serving as our Personnel Executive.

IML Security Supply is a wholesale distributor focused on the supply of hardware and security products. We offer a wide range of items from door hardware and locksmith supplies to access control and video equipment. We believe our focus on operational excellence while building a business around great people are the keys to success in this industry. These focuses are amplified by our investment of over $100 million in inventory spread out over ten locations to ensure the right product is as close to you as possible. IML is also highly invested in training and education, both for our own employees and for you, our customer, with a goal of making our team and yours the most knowledgeable in the industry. This is evident in the 300+ classes offered with nearly 4,000 seats filled annually at our locations and industry training events. At IML, it is our aim to be your everyday resource.
